Dinner Theater – Scandinavian Show

Scandinavian Show:

High Tea at The Cooper House Myrtle Beach

High Tea – True or False

2014-06-01 02.55.05There are many questions and misconceptions of high tea gatherings. Here is the scoop.

1. The type of tea cup indicates its origin.   True, the design, material (glass, copper or porcelain) tells you where the cup or tea pot was made.

2. The word “High” depicts the time of day.  False, high indicates the size of the table, it is a full sized table as opposed to small coffee table.

3. Tea originated in England.  False, the Chinese have been drinking tea since recorded time.  It reached England sometime between 1653-1658.

4. The tradition of afternoon tea originated in England.  True, about 1840 The Duchess of Bedford grew tired of the of the sinking feeling which afflicted her every afternoon around 4 o’clock, she asked for a tray of tea, bread and butter, and cake to be brought to her room.  This spread among her friends and the event became increasingly elaborate.

Now you know. Schedule your next High Tea event at The Cooper House.

Vintage English High Tea

vintage tea setsJoin us for a magical, mindful and memorable thrown by the Les Elephantes High Society of Do-Gooders and Tea Drinkers.

You will engage in meaningful conversation. You will be entertained. You will enjoy a wonderful cuppa or two (or three). You will be fed amazing nibbles and bites both savory and sweet. You will leave inspired, awakened and empowered to go forth into your family and community and spread the Les Elephants love.

The event will be held on the Grand Lawn of the Cooper House Event Center which has recently been bestowed the prestigious 2014 Small Business of the Year Award from the Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce. That is pretty much like being knighted by the Queen herself.

Costumes are not only encouraged, but required to participate in this High Society experience. And, there will be a prize for the most fabulous hat. Please do inquire about the photos we have posted for the proper English Vintage Attire.

We will only be selling 20 tickets to the Tea Party. No more. No less. Tickets are $40 each. Tickets must be purchased in advance here;http://www.eventbrite.com/e/les-elephants-high-society-of-do-gooders-and-tea-drinkers-vintage-english-high-tea-tickets-11473472465 *
